CLARITY

Clarity is determined by the number of inclusions a diamond has. These are traces of elements such as minerals which are naturally present in the diamond, though most are invisible to the naked eye.

The clarity affects the way light is reflected and refracted within the diamond, with the clarity scale ranging from flawless, to Included 3.

Inclusions can come in the form of black spots, feathers, crystals, and clouds. Their intensity, colour, and location on the diamond determine the clarity grade of the diamond.

A rule of thumb is: the higher the clarity, the higher the value of the diamond
(as long as the other parameters remain constant).

Swana Diamonds avoids cutting and polishing diamonds with lower clarities, and thus you will be offered a range of clarities starting from slightly included (SI) up to flawless.
